^ Your right, I apologize NumberDummy. I got the tone of this thread and the other 5.7 thread confused. Lot more brand bashing on the other one, this one has been tame. I'm a bone head.

Join the club...I was wrong too as the 5.7 is available on all Toyota Tundra models.

All I can say is WOW!!!!............If Ford doesn't turn up the wick, I predict most of the 200,000 Tundras that Toy can build/sell are coming right out of Ford's sales.

I would deffinately look into it esp if I was a 1500 gas guy. I would probably waite a year to check the reliabilty and then pull the trigger.

This torque thing is for the birds also, that motor probably puts down more torque to the wheels then the 5.4 does to the flywheel.

Sorry guys but toyota laid down trump if they can hold it together. GAME ON!

BTW as mentioned......where is the superduty's boxed frame if it is so tough and mighty. LOL get a grip.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. How about stop adding unneeded weight to the F150 such as the boxed frame and maybe those advances in engine tech will not only yeild more power, but also more MPG.

IMO-They did it all wrong. Leave the lighter duty F150 with the C channel (which is more than adequate for any truck as long as it's designed right) and box the SD, if not for anything else than marketing.

Toyota will undoubtedly sell every one of these trucks without having to resort to profit-robbing rebates. I'm not sure how farmers not buying Toyota trucks matters as it hasn't kept Toyota from bypassing Ford. God help Ford/GM/Daimler-Chrysler when Toyota brings out a 3/4 ton truck which will no doubt happen one day. Toyota is very deliberate and rarely makes a misstep. This approach seems to have served them well.

Toyota rarely makes a mistep. Really another misnomer. Theybhave had a huge number off recalls on there vehicles latly an there quality has gone down. Looks like a misstep to me. There goes Mike again bashing Ford. Yes Mike we know you love Toyota an hate Ford. An nothing will ever change your mind. Has Ford done anything right in your mind. Or should I say is Toyota invincible. Toyota styling on trucks leaves a lot to be desired. An where people buy trucks in the country they are few Toyota dealers. Most off theme are concentrated in the metro areas. I dont know off any Toyota dealers in my neck off the woods. But plenty off Ford an Chevy dealers. So I doubt if you see rural people buying a huge number off Toyotas.

it's not a bad looking truck. I personally would wait until the second year of production before buying one. Let them work some of the bugs out. Wait who am I kidding I'd never buy anything but a Ford Truck!

If a misstep is a mistake in judgement or action, or a blunder, then Ford and owns this definition. I'm not sure where the information that Toyota's quality is slipping comes from but I suspect that it is a convienent, flippant remark made by people who don't take the time to back it up. Admittedly, I could be wrong but it will take some effort on your part before I push the "I believe" button on this one.

I still don't understand this notion that what rural people buy is somehow a factor in Toyota beating out Ford, especially given that the rural population declines every year. Where I'm from we have one stoplight and no foreign car dealers. So what? Are you suggesting that people from rural areas buy new trucks at a faster rate than people from suburban areas? You would be hard pressed to make that argument.

For the record, I don't own a Toyota. I do own a '74 Bronco, a '78 Bronco and a 76 F100. However, I see no reason to defend corporate fat cats who are running my beloved Ford into the ground. Nor will I continue to support their efforts. I'll buy another Ford when they step up and compete. In the meantime, my old Ford iron is still getting the job done.

Toyota delayed production last year on the new to the US market Yaris, and the new Tundra, when build quality issues surfaced. Both vehicles are now in production.

Is that right!?! I could have swore that it was the other way around, at least that's what I've been reading here and there.

Then you're not looking, or taking the time to back up your remarks! Google and enjoy!
