Thanks! I finally got the "scene" written. Seriously, none of the people who read this are going to care about the details, but being completely ****, I wanted to stay within the realm of reality. You all helped a lot. I used the mouse (who ended up still being in the truck), which led to driver distraction, which led to the bottoming out, which popped the seal, which led to an oil leak, which ultimately stopped the truck while leaving enough of an oil trail for the Quad-man to track them. Likely-no. Fun, well, yeah.

Tranny seizing is a more realistic scenario than blowing a clutch. A blown clutch won't usually suddenly stop or totally disable a vehicle. The rear wheels bouncing off the ground while under hard acceleration could easily break a gear in the transmission, the broken parts in turn could cause the tranny to lock up.
