2001 F-150 COP...4.6 L and it's time to change the plugs...i have a miss and i'm thinking it's a cracked plug cause i have no check engin light on...anyone out there change plugs on my type motor and can give me any hints or tricks.....and how long did it take...i head from many people that they are a nightmare to do....thanks

 

Done several, it does get easier.

You're worst side is the passenger side bank. You will have to remove the fuel rails to do each side. You'll need an 8mm socket for those. Be careful removing and replacing fuel rails not to damage "O" rings, if you replace them or not.
You'll have to remove injectors for better access to plugs. When you are installing you're injectors, a little bit of silicone paste helps on get them to set into the heads and fuel rails.
You'll use the same 8mm socket to remove the coils. For you're back cylnder's have a couple shorter extension to get down to the pluge. One longer extension won't work there. Trust me.
Right side is easier, plugs aren't set back quite as far. So I do the hard side first.

thanks for the advise....seams like a pain in the ****.....my 88 with a 302 i had done in 20 min......this seams like it's going to take 2 hrs

 

I've done several. Yes it's good for a couple hours.
