Driving it right. You mean babying it, not working it, and sissying it everywhere you go?

well considering the old 7.3 has 225,000 miles on it. Did i mention 90% it is towing down the highway ( no since and driving a dually around town) hauling trailers above 10k? he orignally bought a dodge Cummnins that went into the shop over and over again and finally caught on fire and burned up leaving us stranded in Oklahoma (with those weirdos) and destroying a $25,000 trailer ( with only 8500 miles on the clock or 7 months of ownership) That was strike one for dodge with me.

And I know a guy with a '95 12V Cummins with well over 200K on the original engine and tranny. And another guy with a '98 5.2 Dodge with 230K on the original engine and tranny as well. So what? You get good ones and bad ones with each and every brand. I've said it time and time again. Besides, wasn't it Ford that had the cruise control shorting out and burning down people's garages and homes across the country? A house costs a lot more than a trailer you know .

i would much rather have my truck burn up in the garage. ( its detached) then be stranded 3000 miles away from home!! where i dont know a soul thats why we pay taxes for FIRE DEPARTMENTS!!
at least then the insurance company gave them a hotel.we were Admin note: see our guidelines about language as it wasnt our trailer and the insurance company was a bitch about covering it AND the truck.!

Grab a hotel and a rental if you get stranded. And trust me. The insurance company would give you just as much of a hard time if your burnt down truck were a Ford instead of a Dodge.

They can go for 250,000 miles - I have seen more than 1 truck that has done that.
I have also seen a truck go through 3 of them before it made it to 5000miles...

All 4R100's die eventually - its just a matter of how long it takes it to happen.
The thing is, they are actually a good tranny if built well by an aftermarket place, but that doesn't really count for a whole lot.

I'm curious to know your personal issues that occured with a Dodge product. What did you own and what happened to it during your ownership? Just curious.

all trucks have become so bad that people now brag that their truck is at 200,000miles and running strong....i know cavaliers and sunfires that have that mileage...that mileage is nothing...braggign about a 2004 truck riding strong at 80000miles means squat...a motor that fails before 300, 000 is ambarrassing thats just my opinion....its sad that we have all gotten used to seeing failures from all truck brands that we now gloat over 200,000 miles....just an observation guys...i expect my truck to be relatively trouble free for 200, 000 miles...changing fuel pumps, trannies, diffs, transfer cases, etc is ridiculous and shameful before that ...

Depends on how hard the truck was worked for those 200,000 miles. Your comparing apples to oranges when comparing a Cavalier to a truck. In most cases if you use your truck for highway travel, around town, and towing a trailer once in awhile your truck should last you over 200,000 with "regular maintainance"

If it's worked hard on the farm or constuction site or whatever, then 200,000 miles without replacing a major component is something to brag about no matter what brand of truck you own......
