63 FORD Econo-pickup

I have the chance to get a 63 Ford Econoline type pickup, any thoughts on there value and what's your thoughts on these strange animals? Kinda different and unique. If it is a driver may just do that until my 50 f1 is a runner. Will it be impossible to get parts? Look forward to your input Ed ke6bnl

I had a '64 econoline van. Good little truck! Had 170 cu 6cyl engine and c4 trans. I took it on trips, etc.

It didn't handle well above 65 mph in a cross wind, and is impossible to ad a/c (reasonably).

You have great visibility while driving, but remember if you are in an accident you will be the first one there!

Winford, everytime I think about what you said about being the first one there in an accedent I have to chuckle. I know it is true but it has put a laugh on my face all day.. As a kid I recall driving all over in my buddies econoline on out dirt bike trips, was a strange feeling then and they were common, spent many nights camp in the back for a good ride the following morning. Well I hope it comes about the price was right, haul it away. Just got invitation to haul a 70 Datsun home and a Motor home. First I was short a vehicles while my 50 f1 is being done and now I will have a used car lot. Hope I might be able to trade one off for a Dual purpose bike and go riding with my boy who will be driving age in the next 6 months. Thanks for the reminder Ed ke6bnl

They are truly unique animals. If I were in your shoes, I would be cutting the cheque, not asking others what they thought!

I had my eyes on one here in Manitoba, Canada, but it burnt to the ground the day before it was to go up for auction. The guy's kids pulled it out of the shed after many years and figured it was ok to leave running without a good cleaning or inspection...

I cried.
