Has anyone put on the Bfg 285/65/18's? If so what do they look like?
I'm concerned about the wide tires throwing rocks aginst the side of the truck chipping the paint etc., not to mention washing these monsters. I have installed mud guards. Any advise or comments would be appreciated.
No they dont stick out past the fenders but yes they throw rocks. You can hear the rocks hitting the undercarriage and ocassionaly spits one out into my exhaust tips. Other than that I have no complaints about the tires and throwing a few rocks under the truck is something I can live with.

305/65R18 would run over $293.00 a piece including shipping from Tirerack.
$300.00 a piece from a local dealer is an excellent price.

Nice Truck

Just found this sight the other day. Love your truck. I don't mean to sound like I'm asking the same questions, but I gotta do it. I've got a '04 XLT Super cab 4x4 (similar to your brothers I think). It still has the stock 235/75/17. I want to put the 265/70/70 tires on, but fear it may not look that great without a leveling kit. Would you agree?

I think that it would definitly look better with the tire swap regardless of the leveling kit. While the leveling kit isnt a must I do think that it looks better with it and if you plan on going with bigger tires in the future you might as well make room now.

Your truck looks SWEET!!!!!

I wish I would have thought about going to 305s instead of the Nitto 285s. I like the Nittos just fine as far as the way they have preformed for me inthe snow but your 305s look a lot better in my opinion. You can see the difference between your truck and mine if you check out my gallery. I will definitely be going the 305 route when the Nittos run down.

Thumbs up

Nice looking truck and great choice on tires. I am biased though. I can't believe how quiet these BFG's are.

01COBRA- Thanks for your input. I've decided to go with the 285/70s and put the truck on a 2" level kit. Can't wait to see how it looks when it's done.

Truck looks great!
I was currious how well my dad's truck(04 screw 4x4 Lariat) would look/clear tires pretty close to that size.
He's about to get some 34" swampers(for hunting season), which will be 33.8" tall, so basically the same hieght.

Did you notice any rubbing while fully turned on a bumpy road or anything of the such?

Hey That a sweet lookin truck, just curious what your fuel mileage is like after the lift, and tire change. Was debating the leveling kit but didn't know about the mileage.

I have the misfortune of having 18" wheels on my FX4.

Are you guys comfortable putting 305's on stock rims? They're a bit narrow for a 305 in my experience (and from what I've heard from others.)
