I have a 99 with the rattling T/C. I do a lot of towing of a 16 inclosed trailer, which loaded weighs in about 6k lbs. I have pretty much made up my mind to either go with a 6.0 stock converter or with one from here:
With that being said, would a lower stall speed be better for towing or a higher stall speed? What is the difference between the 4 studs and 6 studs? Which do i need?
Would the Hughes converters be better than the Ford converters at the bottom? I am really looking at the very last one on the page...the billet twin disk from Ford....any opinions? Thanks for the help!!
the lower stall will be better for towing as you dont need to run high rpm to make power or spool you turbo. you will need the 6 stud for the diesel. I cant tell you which one to choose but most any multdisk is goign to be better then the stocker.
LI, can you give me some more info on the T/C on your site. I have never noticed them before. I am interested in the maximizer T/C from TCI (both of them). Who anufactuers the other converter you have listed. info and specs on it as well please! Can you honestly reccomend one of those converters over one of the ones I have chosen?
Anyone else on here has experience with TCI, Hughes, or Oregon transmission?
One more off topic question, this gu i know said i could run some ATF in the fuel tank to clean the injectors.... sounded kinda fishy to me. Does anyone use this method or have had and success with this?
they are made by TCI they have been making converter and valve bodys for a while they are part of Comp Cams. we also offer but dont have listed the one from the converter shop TCS. Suncoast, ats, bd and B&M... they all seem to work better then stock dont knwo which one is the best but we like the TCS
You could always buy a new one from Ford if you don't plan on big HP, mine's holding just fine.
All the new ones are triple disk. A 6.0 converter will work with some spacers too. The 6.0 has a lower stall speed and a thicker front cover. The 7.3 that Ford sells now is a good piece though.
Call Brian or Cale (brianstruckshop.com) his opinion is worth its weight in gold.
Do you think o would be out of line calling and asking them for advice on purchasing another companies T/C. just doesnt seem like the right thing to do. If any of his T/C were in my budget then there definetely wouldnt be an issue.
