Hey,
I took the bed off cause Im gonna put a flatbed on my '89. I'm gonna go thru with a wire wheel and brush to check out what I have to work with rust-wise.
The rear tank is shot, the sending lines are rusted off and the straps below are rotten.
I'll post pics tommorow and see what you guys have to say about it.
I would take time and look at everything. That includes wiring. It will never be easier than when the bed is off. I put on an entire prothane poly kit when I redid my truck. It included everything, and really made it nice. Keep posting pics
Last night, I went to replace the shocks, and the upper stud broke off. So now Im gonna have to get a new upper shock mount. $17+S&H at LMC. I'll post pics of that too.
I also ditched the rear tank, When I removed the filler tube from the tank, I smelled inside the tank and it smelled like.....air, nothing.I might think about getting new lines and buying one of those extra capacity fuel tank (38 gal) from LMC.
I'll post more pics after I straighten up the place, I cant walk thru to get to the cab! Underneath the truck, you cant even tell it is sitting on concrete, looks like dirt from all the rust and crud that fell off the truck.
Before you buy the tank, here's a thought I have been rolling around in my head. You can get 33 gal bronco tanks for around $150 (I think). It is 5 gal less than the extra cap tank, but $300 less. Just get a bronco sending unit and straps and bolt in. I think the wiring even hooks up.
The only reason I haven't done it myself is because I can't afford to buy it right now
