Roll n' Lock Tonneau Covers

I have an 06' FX4 CREW 150" WB and would like to put on a roll n lock tonneau cover. I know there are many options out there. I have been told by a local truck outfitting dealer that the Roll n Lock brand has problems and they are pretty costly. Any other options that people are using and are happy with. I have done some research online but would rather here from the real people that are using them versus reading what a manufacturer has to say.

I have a Peace Edward (Jack Rabbit). Mine leaks at the tailgate and the cover shacks while driving. I kinda wish I just bought another Extang RT soft roll up. I had one of those on my last truck and loved it.

THe Pace Edward Jack Rabbit is what this dealer said they recommended because it is cheaper then the Roll n Lock but that is why I wanted to ask the real users because I want one that does not leak and it sounds like something I need to investigate. Did you install your own or have a dealer do it. This dealer told me if it leaks they will fix it at no charge within the warranty of 3 years.

I did install it. I also called Peace Edwards about it leaking and they said to put a piece of weather-stripping the tailgate between the tailgate and the seal because it's not a watertight fit and they will leak some. Other members on these forums have also stated there's leak.

Check out Truxedo...I have a LowPro on my FX4 and I love it. Old school looks, soft top, rolls up easily, if you lock your tailgate it can't be opened without cutting the fabric, and 98% leak free.

I think that's the nature of any retractable cover that they will leak at the tailgate.

i had a RollnLock on a Sport Trac for about 2 years. It didn't hold up that well in just 2 years. The vinyl top was faded and it rattled alot. It leaked water in at the tailgate.

I have a roll-n-lock on my 98 f150. This is my 2nd winter with it. I have not had any problems with leaking. As for fading, I use a non silicon base product call 303. It is for vinyl, rubber plastics etc. It makes it look just like new. It gets pretty stiff when it gets cold like -30, but I can still open it. I would buy another one for my next truck.

had too many leaking and freezing and sticking problems with these, so this time I went with the Advance. 2 big aluminum doors open like a picnic basket with hinge in the middle...almost a year old & no problems so far. It's industrial strength compared to the others i've had. Good luck!

I bought a Craftec Hatch Tonneau Cover for my 2006 STX. I like it. Got a good price on ebay. Still vinyl, but no snaps. I went on a trip to Missouri from Georgia. It rained, nothing got wet.
