I was kind of astonished at this, especially since they said it wasn't all that hard to do. Don't get me wrong... I'm not planning on the swap-- I'm just wanting to know if all of this is valid.

I'm pretty sure that the bellhousing is the same on the transmissions, as the 1994 F-150 and 1998 F-150 that I have look to have the same transmission, minus the transfer case on the 1998. These are 4R70W's, ain't they?

The 1997 F-150 that they talked about was a 5-speed, and the two 1998's were automatics.

They said that the wiring harnesses were basically the same-- All you had to do was swap in the 302/351, plug it in, get the proper engine computer, and there you go.

I am seriously doubting this, but I guess it could be so...

Now, don't get me wrong... I know that this can be done, but I don't think that it can without alot of time, money, and sweat put into it. They make it sound like there's nothing to it.

I would like to believe it would be that easy, but I think I have some lying buds...

I have a 5.0 in my 1997 f150 now running. I also have a 4.2 M5R2 being a 4x4 on it now but i have to work out the clutch release which i will do this week sometime. I had it hooked before to an AOD but it blew up on me and so did the head gaskets. I then decided i wanted the manual and no i have this 99 4.2 on it. I only had to drill out the engine bell holes in the 4.2 just slightly to fit the SAE bolts instead of the metric bolt holes. Just email me if you want to see it. No lies here, Holly 4 barrel, points and all wiring works as should with no other changes. I made the mount using the 4.6 mounts and 86 t-bird 5.0 mounts, The trans bolted back to the member with no modifications.
