brake master cylinder for 59

I want to upgrade my brakes and am looking for a dual master cylinder. I've read on this forum that the 56 can use one from a 68-70 mustang. Is that the same for a 59 and also is there one that may be easier to get that will fit also? Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated.

If you don't know all the in's and out's of braking systems, keep the original or buy a kit already designed for your truck.

Travis,

You will have to buy an adapter to use a later model MS. 57 was the 1st year to go on the firewall, so 56 and earlier kits will not work. Try this link - I found it in my last Classic Trucks magazine: www.ecihotrodbrakes.com -- click on the Master Cylinder Adapter Kits link. This should show up somewhere on the page:

57-62 Ford 1/2 ton Pickup - Adapts EC-445 Mustang master cylinder to pedal assembly. Comes complete with hardware.
EC-412............................................$ 64.95

The magazine ad shows this kit costs $69.95! There are probably others, but this is one!
