Thanks again Jeff, even though I had just bought new 20" winter blades a few weeks ago I bit the bullet and shelled out for another set of winter blades in 24". I did notice that the extra length was making a slight streak but that's probably just where the Rain-X hadn't been rubbed by the 20" blades. I'll retreat the windshield tomorrow and see how it goes. We have not had much adverse weather but there was a little fog the other night and the extra clean area was nice. To me it's more noticable on the passenger side giving you more visability over the right fender when looking for oncoming traffic at an intersection. Now I have to see if the 20" blades will fit the Crown Vic of Freestyle, or find someone to give them to....

Dang, something ELSE I need to do !!!!

One thing mentioned was rain-x ....

for those of you that's not tried it the rain-x you add to the windshield washer bottle makes your blades last longer in two ways

1) you don't need to use your blades as much (have been in drving rain @ 60 mph with no wipers and could see better than with wipers on)

2) makes the glass "smoother" so less drag !

it's a win - win !

Do they make a specific Rain-X for the washer bottle, or is it the same stuff as applied directly by hand to the windshield?

I love the rain-x washer fluid I've seen at wal-mart. I've 'heard' that the rain-x makes the rubber wear out faster. Anyone else experienced that. I've used it for so long, I don't know the difference anymore, I just change them when they don't clear quite as well as they used to.

My driver's side wiper has a "slight streak" in what is the last 2" of so... but it is minimal and fades away... soI think it is just dirt, grime and build up not used to being wiped??? Either way.... I am happy and like the extra 4" per blade of view.

The way that I heard to use the two is that you use the bottle on the windshield first, as they recommend, and then add the wiper solution. The washer fluid should make the window treatment last longer. I've got to say it works pretty well, though I haven't got it up to snuff now. I do remember getting splashed by a big rig, last year, with slush and water so hard that I thought I was going to crash and then realized I could actually see. It does make a difference.

I have used the Rain-X washer fluid from Wally's world. I have found it works great in most rain storms and downpours. The 24" blades and Rain-X washer fluid are a great combo for better visibility.

Rain-X is great! I stay on intermittent except in heavy downpour. I'm looking forward to a set of 24's now, too. At my seat height, I have to duck a little to see under the wipe line. 'Course I could wash the truck...nah.

What is the easiest way to remove the wiper blades? (...in other words, how do they come off)

where the blade meets the arm there is a small latch ..just push the latch and pull down on the blade and it comes right off.Or you can stop by autozone and they will change them for you....

My arm loops around the blade like a hook, and there is a pin that goes through the "eye" of this loop through a shaft in the blade body. There is a little lever that moves, but nothing happens when you push it...maybe the blade is just stuck as it is three years old.

My new Bosch blade has the "eye hole" without a pin. I assumed the pin from my old blade was to be reused.
