Just changed spark plugs to rid my misfire code P0304. That cleared that one but now I'm getting another misfire code in cylinder 2 (P0302). Below is the freeze data I caputured from the OBD II scanner. I cleared and then recaptured the code three times (below) to try and help with the troubleshooting. Can someone school me on interpreting the data? I assuming it's the injector causing the problem. If so, should I buy a new one or have this one cleaned? Or, should I first take it to a shop that can do a motorcraft power injector flush (never done this before and I hate to foul my new plugs, they were B#$%!) to change)? Should I buy a "noid" light to make sure the pluses are all getting to the injector? Just looking for a little helpful advice.
well I don't know what the codes mean but a bottle of fuel injector cleaner costs next to nothing, or you could try a seafoam job. Either of these might clean it up for you.
Swapped #1 and #2 COP's. Problem moved to #1.
Went to local parts store and bought one new motorcraft COP.
Cleared that code...
Then -
During test drive, got a pending code P0304 (misfire #4).
Cleared code to verify. Next test drive got a Check engine light.
Code came up as P0303 (misfire #3).
Scratched head......
Went to local scrap yard and bought a handful of used COP's.
Replaced #3 and #4 COP's.
All is well now. Been driving it for a little over a week now, code free. Actually runs pretty darn good. Starts right up, no knocking or weird noises, averaging 13.5 mpg.
My next step will be to return the OBD II reader I have (Actron CP175) for one that will let me read live data (it's running fine now, I'm just curious to see the live data). I'm doing some research on them now. Best bang I've seen for the buck so far is the ProScan Universal Scan Tool / serial interface (appx $150). Post it here if you have good recommendation.
