First post on this board. I'm hoping someone here can help. I bought a 90 E150. It's had a propane conversion. For some reason the Engine code in the VIN doesn't seem to match any of Ford's "standard" codes.
The VIN mentions an engine code of "S". According to the documentation I've found, there was never an "S" engine in an Econoline! The base engine if the V6 4.9L
The VIN on the dash matches the one printed on the door jamb sticker.
Ok, your engine code isn't the "S" it's the "9". The engine code is the eighth digit. I believe that's the 4.9 Inline 6, and it's the common engine in the half tons that was converted to propane.
