EBPV:Exhaust brake Help

I just finished the EBPV for exhaust brake per kwicks instructions and tc lockup per guzzles...when I started for the first time I noticed a service engine soon light...short drive and I have no power with the switch on or off...no turbo...pulled codes and they are p0475 and p1278

I have read on other threads that the p0475 is due to the EBPV being disconnected....what about p1278 (no turbo boost detected)

Oh yeah I cannot get the truck to start now!

OOOUCH. Can You put it back the way it was? Hopefully by disconnecting the batteries, restoring the way it was, those codes will go away and it will start. Then rethink your mod or procedure. Good Luck.

Update....I got the truck started....cleared codes (SES light off) rechecked codes only p0475 and everything seems to work fine...test drive went good....came back turned off and restarted the SES light came back on...checked codes the p0475 is the only code no more p1278...is there anything to do to stop the SES light from coming on?

Thanks

475 usually is a Short to power or open/grounded circuit. Check your wiring closely. But it can also be a damaged EBP Solenoid.

475 is set during the KOEO self test while the WTS light is on. thats why it did not come back on your drive and did when you restarted.

What did you have to do if anything to get it started?

To get the truck started...well I was agitated so I walked away...came back later and it would crank with no start, then it started...no trouble since then, don't know why or what caused the no start problem

To hook up the new wires I ran a switch with 12v to and sent the load from the switch through a 10 ohm resistor to the connector for the EBPV (gry/rd), I cut the wires from the PCM off the connector and taped them off (rechecked still taped), ran a new ground in the engine compartment and connected to the black wire on the connector

Is there anything I left out...anything else to do to the factory wires from the PCM that would alleviate this

Thanks

When you say a damaged EBP solenoid...I was having trouble with the valve sticking...assumed it was the sensor tube clogged...how does the computer check to see if the solenoid is functioning properly? what do I look for to see if the solenoid is working correctly...

so by using this method of removing the pcm control of the ebv I code will always be set...no way around short of hooking up the pcm wires with diodes

yea the PCM has to be able to "see" the EBP Solenoid to run a self test at Key On.

I have no idea. I do know that you have to be very very careful about not backfeeding voltage to the pcm. One of our sponsors sells a pigtail for doing this

That's odd. I have a '99 and no problems with SES light with the EBPV out of the loop.

An "open" in circuit 318 (grey/redstripe) should set the light.
