Ford did build one 1965 Mustang station wagon...it ended up with a former writer for Hot Rod magazine (not Ralph Guldahl, who is now with Edelbrock). I saw it several times in the mid 1970's, but where it is today is anyones guess.
Bunkie Knudsen was responsible for the 1970-71 T-Bird (remember the Knudsen nose?) and 1971-73 Mustang styling, as he was head of Ford Division at the time. He approved the designs...the Deuce took one look...and Knudsen was gone.

I disagree that the current Charger name on a four door sedan is a good idea. The things are turning up as cop cars, should have been called Polara. As for multiple Mustang bodystyles, another Ford "Bad Idea". They might ruin the only Ford passenger car I could see myself buying. BMW gets away with it because they are main-line cars (3-series) for them, not specialty models, like the Mustang is to Ford.

FORD: “NO PLANS FOR EXPANDED MUSTANG LINE”
DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 15 – Ford Motor Company today made clear that recent media speculation concerning an expanded Mustang line – including a sedan and wagon model to be sold in global markets – is not true. Mustang is an icon and will continue in its current form: a unique, two-door, rear-wheel drive, 2+2 performance car.
At the 2007 North American International Auto Show, Ford will unveil a four-door, rear-wheel-drive concept car. The concept, known as “The Interceptor”, is based on the Mustang’s rear-wheel-drive architecture but it is not a Mustang and no production plans have been announced. Additional information on the Ford rear-drive concept will be available December 31, 2006.
