Steering Upgrades
What are the pros/cons of a steering stabilizer(55f100-2wd)? or is there a easy (cheap!!!!) way to install power steering without altering the front suspension too much?? My main goal is to maintain the apearance of a 50's-60's era hot rod so I can only alter so much, slightly lower stance,minor steering upgrades , as long as my appearance is as close as I can get it & still maintain drivability..

I have not seen a cheap way but an easy way is the power assisted steering kit from Mid Fifties. It includes everything but the pump. Parts included are power control valve, drag link, heavy duty tie rod, power piston,mounting hardware, and hoses. I plan to use this kit on my 1955 F100 and I have been collecting power steering pumps , brackets, and pulleys from 50's Fords to make it look like an original accessory. That is the best way I have found to mount a power steering pump on a Ford Y block engine. The parts for a T-Bird fit just right. The hard part to find is a crank pulley with 2 or 3 v grooves. I got lucky on ebay and found a 2 piece 3 groove pulley from a mid fifties Ford and a 2 groove pulley for the water pump. I also found the pump bracket and bought the large mounting bolt from a Tbird supplier. The parts so far were cheap, but the kit is around $600.
