The Overhead Trip Comuter in my '99.5 is not coming on at all and wasn't when I bought the truck. Not a big deal, but am curious about it.
Can anyone tell me where to start looking for the problem??
Would be fun to have the compass, but from what I read on here, the trip info is not very accurate, so I'm not too concerned about that. Still, if it's an easy fix, would be fun to have.
i have 01 cc psd and one day mine stoped to mine is wood and if yours is like mine then the wires are vary thin and i asume that thay just cracked or feel out of place but i think i ame going to pull mine down and i will let you no
This is really interesting...got the little circuit board out and sure enough, 3 of the chips were popped up.
What's the deal on these?? Bad solder or what??
Anyway, I've been trying to solder the chips back down and cant' get the solder to stick. What kind of solder do I need?? Not an electronics genious, but can usually fix these kinds of things. I do have a nice tiny soldering iron, but apparently need different solder.
This group is incredible!!! You folks must save people hundreds and thousands of dollars of repair costs!!! Thanks so much for being here and being so willing to help!!

I never could get the original flat resistors to solder back down because whatever the resin they coat the board with kept melting and getting in the joint, so I replaced them with regular resistors from Radio Shack, they were much easier to get a good joint with. The 620 chip is a 62 ohm resistor, the 680 is a 68 ohm resistor.
It works!!!Finally got some solder to stick enough to hold those little resistor chips down and sure enough...it works!!! I'll be damn!!! I thought after all my messing around there wasn't chance. We'll see how long they last...
