Any Ford shop manual for 57 to 60's has the rebuild procedures and test procedures in it. Even earlier ones and later ones should be about same. I've had up to 76 with same systems as 56 I had. I have a 59 manual. Most times on these they are just rusted up in powr cylinder just like a regular MC gets from sitting. Try bleeding it first, may be two bleeders and has to be done in order and Don't twist them off. Loosen with a 1/4" socket breaker bar and Just move it and tighten and loosen back and forth to break them loose. Use lots of penetrant on them too. You should here a vacumm sound when you let up on the pedal as the filter is in cab behind seat in corner and that's where sound comes from. When these work it's gonna put you through the windsheild if right! Lot's of times the leather in these rots out and the vacumm part wont work. usually have to send these out to get rebuilt through a big truck repair shop as not many places have parts or kits for them. Check some newer trucks in yards first, maybe they will have a newer one that will replace yours. Rebuilds are around $250 or more! :-staun
