!997 F250 OBD II Connector Location

Can anyone tell me where to find the OBD II connector on a 97 F250? I have disassembled the dash looking for it. Was this vehicle built before OBD II. All the manuals say it was implemented in 96 and the connector is in the middle under the dash. I've spend hours looking and researching this. Can anyone please help?

check under the hood, drivers side, right by the hood hinge. if there is a little black box there that says "EEC" then you dont have OBD2. However you can still get codes from your truck by following 1995 instructions on how to read EEC-IV codes. don't feel bad, I too learned the hard way that F-350 didnt get obd2 until 1999, but I am suprised that your F250 doesnt have it. but I understand that Ford doesnt always make clean breaks on this kind of stuff, so its plausible that some 1997 f250s would have it and some dont.

I bought a $30 eec reader called a "3145" that is sold under several brand names. Dont buy it. It says LED readout but that doesnt mean alpha/numeric LED readout, it means it has a single LED bulb that blinks the code at you. useless since you can use the check engine light to do that.

97 F250 OBD II Connector

Thanks for all your input guys but no help. I actually found a website with a photo of where the connector is supposed to be. Right where you all said it should be...left of glove box, under ash tray. Guess what? no connector. Turns out that in 97 Fed OBDII standards didn't apply to trucks over 8500 lbs. California stds were 14000lbs. VIN plate says 8800lbs not for sale in CA. Therefore no OBDII.

Wow, I'm stumped. I completely disassembled the dash. There is no OBD connector. There is definitely a bracket under the dash where it should be but nothing there. Maybe it was sold new in Canada before I got it. I got the weight and OBD spec directly from www.ford.com web site. If you have it Leader, then yours must have been in California at the beginning. If not then, this makes no sense to me. Thanks again for your help.

My 1997 460 F250 is also EEC-IV. I was surprised too that it wasn't OBD-II. Luckily the NGS scanner I picked up has the right adapter, and I have the red card for 84-95. I have to tell it it's a 95 8th digit "G" and I'm good to go.

I have a late build 96' F350 and it's where he ^^^ said it is.

Still haven't pulled codes for my check engine light. It keeps going off.
