Interior and Recent Progress *lots of pics*

Here are the progress pics of my 55 f-100 project:

Over the past week I have done a ton of work on the truck.
I got the heads put onto the block and the intake manifold installed (also note the new oil pan to clear the MII crossmember:

I finally got the engine/transmission mounts welded into place where I want them and the engine hung in the bay

Installed the linkage for the 23 inch lokar shifter:

I also got to do the wiring for the truck(don't have many pictures of this yet). I started the creation of the kick panels and rear of the cab:

i am going to fiberglass in the 6x9's to make a nice flush plate behind the seat. I also will cover this with the same carpet that is going on the floor and the kick panels..

Here is a shot of the roof of the cab after i ripped out the nastiness that was previously called the headliner:

installing sound deadener is not quite as fun as one would think

Here is the cab with the carpet installed. I made the carpet retainers out of 6 dollar alluminum angle rods from Home Depot

my nasty bench seat... which i will send off to a real auto upholster guy to be recovered in grey...

Man that looks outstanding. You are now my hero! I'm glad you posted pictures, as it give me some guidance on how to do mine. I was looking at it tonight and trying to figure it out how to do the carpet in mine. I will definitely follow your lead. It looks great. Great work and keep the pics coming!

naw, i am kind of traveling on the seat of my pants right now. The engine was from my brothers 87 mustang GT originally..

I ordered a set of running boards off of a member on this site and once i receive them the whole body is going back together..then i am going to prep it and have it painted..

What was the sound deadener you used on the floor? Does it have adhesive on one side?

thanks. I actually got the carpet info from a fellow user here way back in the day.

I ordered two rolls of carpet from advancedauto.com each roll was 5 ft x 3 ft. I had my fiance use the sewing machine to sew them together for teh floor.

The trick to doing your own carpet is this:

1. Lay your carpet down on the floor as flat as you can, trim the sides.

2. purchase some industrial strength velcro tape. You will only need the hard side as it will stick to the bottom of the automotive carpet.

3. cut 4 inch portion of this tape and strategically place it on places of the floorboard to make the carpet sit tight against everything.

4. trim the hole for the shifter and pedal assemblies

5. push the carpet all the way up to the firewall and "CAREFULLY" trim it to where it meets the firewall (as seen in my pics above)

6. cut the slots/or hole for your steering column

7. strategically place more velcro strips on firewall section. Take the rest of the carpet you trimmed off and place it on the firewall.. trim sides..

Thats pretty much what I did.. then i cut the two side retainers.

It is called B-quiet Ultimate. You can find it on e*ay from the manufacturer. It was nicer than any dynamat i have ever used and cheaper. I got a 50 sq. ft roll for 110 shipped.
