Smile Band Adjustment lock nut size
I have a 1987 F150 5.0L with a C6 transmission. The Haynes transmission manual I have says to replace the lock nut when adjusting the band. Does anyone know what size it is?

This is another one of those cases where the manual says you need to replace the nut but in reality pretty much no one ever does and it doesn't cause any problems.

It is not a standard size and has a rubber seal incorporated into it.
Just put some glue on the threads and reuse it.

Not to hijack but, I didn't know you could adjust the bands. What does this do for ya?

There is one band in a C6 transmission, it is used for second gear only.

It is akin to adjusting brakes but the procedure is different.
