Last year for 460?

Hello,

I have an easy question for all you Ford veterans. What was the last year Ford installed the 460? I thought it was 1977 based on the fact that it was the only year it was available in the Continental Mark V (A car I plan on owning one of these days), but my nieghbor says they still made them in 1987, and I have seen posts here where they have them in 90's vehicles. Does Ford still make the 460 and call it a 7.5? Or was it discontinued at some time?

Jim

My dad had an '89 F250 with the 460(7.5). Of course it was EFI.

I believe it was phased out in '96 as it was being replaced by the new modular motors.

In probably the last 10 years of production, Ford called the 460 a 7.5 liter. I believe it was available throught the 97 MY, but never offered in the superduties as it was replaced by the 6.8L V-10.

clux has it right - 1997 was the last year for the 460, 351w, and 300. They were available in the heavy duty 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks that year.
