Question MERCURY Letter Clips Part #'s

Perhaps there are a few of you out there with Old Part # Books. I need either a part # or substitute fastening method for the the M-E-R-C-U-R-Y Letters accross the Hood of my Canadian made '53 M100 Pick-up.

It's the fastening clips I'm trying to source. Any help figuring out how I can find a way to affix my newly re-chromed letters to the front of my truck would be appreciated. The holes are much larger than the actual pins on the back of the letters and much bigger than all the clips I've seen over the past few years of perusing the clip vendors at the local [Southern Ontario] swap meets.
Thanks
GW

Do you know if they are the same as the F-O-R-D clips? Several vendors have those. I used some push-on clips from the hardware store but they were mighty hard to get on. (My letters were brand new, they fit OK on used ones)

That's a Good Question but I'm not sure... the "53-'56 F100's had the Thunderbolt/whell of Industry Ford Emblem on the Hood and I'll have to search if the pins are the same size.
That would be great but because of the size difference I didn't even think of looking!

This is a little but I would think it would be cool to put one of these badges on a 53-56 Mercury truck.

Sorry, 53Merc, I meant the '52 F-1's F-O-R-D lettering. They have stems that are roughly 5/16" or 3/8" diameter. I'll measure ASAP.

Unfortunatly there is No where to place this on the Front of the Hood unless the MERCURY Letters are Removed, taking away from the Uniqueness & being able to properly I.D. the M-series truck form the front w/o these Letters spelling MERCURY out.

There ar 2 different style of "studs" used to hold these letters in place.
There are the "round" ones & there are the "oval" ones.
Which do you have?
Also, Metal Clips & Rubber Gromets were used, so either are correct.

Actually Col. Flashman there is plenty of room to fit the emblem. It is only like 5" tall. The emblem would sit on the curvature of the hood like the Fords.

If you say so, though it looks like to much work as it doesn't have the curviture required to make it fit.

Hey Guys,
For the record, here's a complete breakdown of this assembly.

Letter "M" #CDBAAA-1606-A
"E" #CDBAAA-1606-B
"R" #CDBAAA-1606-C
"C" #CDBAAA-1606-D
"U" #CDBAAA-1606-E
"Y" #CDBAAA-1606-F

The letters are to be held on with a retainer #C04M-7021048 wich is backed with aself threading nut #355891-S. Alternately, they should be able to be held on with retainer cup washers #351601-S8A followed by lock washer #34940-S8. This info should hold true for all Mercury trucks 1953-1956 in all series of conventional and cab forward models. The only difference is in the Parcel Delivery Van in which the part number for the center letter "C" is CDBRAA-1606-A. Hope that helps eveybody.
Keep on MERCURY Truckin!

51 Dueller,

Was this fine specimen up at a show in Sask. or were you on the road?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Hi Gerry,

Sorry, I don't know of a source for thes parts off hand. If you know of a Ford dealer that has been around from the fifties, give them a call. Also, though many of us don't think about it, many parts houses have cross reference books an can find alteranative pieces sometimes. Reproduction parts houses may also have some, just not in their catalog. Remember thay are usually hobbiests too, it doesn't hurt to ask.
