bob,

How did you shape the metal?? Mine are pretty messed up from 3" below the "Fender flare" on down to the bottom, just behind the rear tires.
I swear who ever drove this did not know how to back up without using the "bump method", LOL. By messed up, i mean i have dents, some of which have been leaded over, and some bondo'd over ( I didn't know you could put bondo that thick!!!!) and some rust. Going to go look at it some more, but i am not sure how to get the "curves" bent into the metal. Ideas???

Robert,

My panel's rear quarters were banged up pretty good too. I had the advantage of having the roof off so I was able to work on the quarters from both sides. They were pushed in about 4" in the back corners up near the body line. I also welded sheet metal tabs in the deepest dents I couldn't get to and pulled them out with a slide hammer. I put up a tech page on my side detailing how I made the patch panels for my truck if you are interested. I might not answer all of you questions but it should help. E-mail me if you have any questions.

I would also like to see some pictures of your truck in it's present condition if you have any that you can e-mail me.

I took a look at your pictures and it looks like you have a truck in about the same condition as mine. The rear quarter looks repairable as far I can tell from your pictures. I also had to build a new piece under rear doors, it was eaten away pretty bad. I'm in the process of transplanting a floor from a '51 F-5 into my panel. I have quite a ways to go before getting it back on the road.

the bottom edges are rusted out and the brackets that go up to the frame are not attached because of the corroded mess// have built one patch panel for the driver side, using your page, and i am impressed... it looks pretty good, and my neighbor says it looks good ( and he is a real **** critic) so thanks for the tips... will post more pics once they are in place permentaly.. thanks again bob for the great ideas
