I have a 2000 250 PS and it seems like I always get a static shock when I get out and shut the door, sometimes it really zaps you. Any suggestions on how to stop this besides useing my sleeve to shut the door?
Simple....when you're opening your door......maintain hand contact with the metal of the door while you're getting out......Step out onto the ground...then just shut the door........Works every time......I used to have a 2001 Dodge 1500 with cloth seats that zapped me every time 'til I started doing that.......Hate static shock.....
Yes, you are the one getting charged when you are sliding across the seat. Then you are discharging yourself on the metal of the door. If you hold onto something metal when you are sliding across the seat like cmpd1781 said, you will be draining the static away.
Seems that I have been getting zapped more frequently nowadays. Not just in my truck, but at work, home, wifes car etc.
It's those polyester liesure suits, I'm telling you....
Seriously, it's due to the lower humidity that is common during the winter months. You seldom hear of this problem during the warm, humid times of the year.
I've been getting static from the War Department for years, nothing new.
Rolling up the car cover then grabbing the rear door is good for a painful 5/8" spark, that sucker hurts. No way to ground out while rolling cover with both hands, fear of vehicle contact.
