58 F-100 hood side emblem search
I'm having a tough time finding the small "F-100" chrome emblem that was installed in the larger chrome emblem on the side of 58 F-100 Custom Cab hoods. Pictures of the larger one with and without the F-100 are on-line at
http://www.swatek.com/mike/58truck/EmblemWithF-100.JPG and
http://www.swatek.com/mike/58truck/EmblemWithoutF-100.JPG .
If anyone out there knows where to find one (NOS, repro or used and restorable), it would be very much appreciated. This is about the only original part that didn't come with the truck.
Thanks,

Hi Mike,
Unfortunately no one is reproducing these emblems at this time. The best places I can think of to find used, or NOS (which would probably be as rare as hen's teeth!) would be E-bay, or a salvage yard somewhere in the south west. You can also check in Hemming's motor news. If you do find a pair that are not too far "gone", they can be repaired and re-chromed by a pot metal restoration shop. I hope this helps you. Best of luck in your search.

Mike,
Just another idea that came to mind. If you know someone with a small foundry, You may be able to have them cast in brass. Brass is easy to chrome plate, and can be done in any decorative chrome plating shop. Sometimes the local high school metal shops are equipped with a small sand casting foundry.

i've been looking for the same emblem myself for my 58 and have also come up dry. Hemmings was no help. Like the others have said you might have to try swap meets or junk yards. I've got one lead on a set in ontario ca at a pick a part. If it pans out then i will get both of them and send ya one---if it's the correct side.

Hi,
I've been keeping my eyes peeled for you. There are currently two seperate sets of these for sale on e-bay (4/13/02) that look to be in nice shape. Unfortunately, both pairs are missing the "F100" pieces. I know that probably doesn't help you much, just thought I'd let you know.
