Steering Problem Q

Vehicle - 99 F250, 4x4.

For the last couple days my steering has been making a squeaking noise... but not at the pump or the belt, sounded like it was coming from the steering wheel. Steering hasn't felt great lately, but I thought it was the wind (60mph+ lately).

Today I start it, and let it warm up as I load the generator in the back of the truck, and I hear a rattle type noise. Pop the hood, and it sounds like there is a bearing going in the PS pump...

Does this happen? I'm almost afraid to drive it, in fear of throwing the belt...

I'm not the type of guy to throw parts at it either, even though the pump is only $70, and a new serp belt is $30.

I put it there as well...

was kinda hoping someone local had a hook-up on the pump and or belt.

I forgot about the V10 forum though... going there now. I posted in the SD forum.

Jack - I completely agree with fast frank. Be patient as a lot of the folks might not be on until Monday. I have been away all weekend and just got on tonight myself. Personally I have not had an issue with mine so don't have anything to base it on. Good luck to you.
