Recently i was mudding in my 97 F-150 and i got stuck in a cattle pond however my truck did not die. But when i try to start my truck it makes a click noise not sure if its a starter or what. Other problem I have true dual exhuast on my truck with two glass packs. When i hit the gas really hard or it rains and i drive it my exhaust will sound like it backfires. It will make alot of pops until i let of the gas. I think it might be my converters but before i take them off. I will see what you guys think. Thanks

 

does it feel like it is robbing you of any power, or just making backfire?

 

does your truck make the click noise then not start? my truck used to make a click noise and then not start until the third or fourth try after wheeling through a lot of water. it usually went away after a day or two though.

 

What motor do you have? You might of got water on the coils.
Do you have a Check engine light? If not, is your check engine lightbulb any good?
As for your exhaust, look under it and make sure you dont have any exhaust leaks or something like that.

 

did you dry out the dizzy afterwards? if it was damp but not soaking it can keep working, just not well. pop the cap and take a look

 

Not sure what you mean by "dizzy", but i assume your talking about a distributor. These trucks dont use distributors, they use multiple coils. But you can get the coils wet though.

 

no everytime i turn the key it just makes one click. Yes it does feel like its robbing me of my power to the poin im gonna cut off my cats and put on a off road h pipe. Even tho in missouri you have to have cats to pass inspection. I have a feeling it will be making peoples windows break as i drive by. no exhaust leaks no check engine light. I think it could be a coil pack bc it does feel when i really romp on it it seems to be misfiring but i thought it was just from my cats

 

How many miles do you have and what engine? If you dont have many miles then i dont think your cats will be bad. But it is a very good possibility that you got a coil/s wet. Try to unplug one coil at a time and it will tell you what cylinder is misfiring. If you find what cylinder is misfiring take off that coil and make sure its dry in there.
