BendPak Car lift?

Anyone here have any experience with BendPak brand car lifts? Any good or bad experiences with them? My old man got the idea to order one from Northern Hydraulics for an extra expense for the year and I'm not gonna argue with him! The one that we're looking at is Northern Hydraulics catalog # 144727-2701H. It costs $3000, and shipping is free! It's rated for 10,000 lbs and is an asymmetrical frame lift. The asymmetrical part means that the post on each side is rotated 30 degrees so the doors are free to open wide open when the vehicle is driven onto the lift.

There's some more pics of them on the BendPak's website and the model number there that corresponds to the one we're looking at is # MX-10ACX.

What do you all think?

I've seen Band-Pak lifts in a lot of garges, so they must be decent. I bought an Eagle lift and it has worked perfectly.

I have a Bend Pak portable lift. Bend Pak uses a network of sales associates, the lift is drop-shipped direct from Bend Pak, and the sales force gets a commission. I think you can beat the Northern Hydraulics price for the same unit.

My portable unit works reasonably well. Some parts of the controls seem a little amateurish; I've had to tweak the adjustments to get them the lift to work reliably.

I have seen the Bend Pak units in muffler shops, etc which is one of the reasons I chose them. Plus their website is quite well done.

I'd probably buy from Bend Pak for a fixed-in-place lift, but I would consider Rotary and other vendors that don't try to cater to hobbiests at all, just to see if there is a next step up in quality.

Thanks for the replies guys! I just wanted to make sure they weren't some company making flimsy lifts. The fact that you have seen them in quite a few shops eases my mind.

Well we ordered our lift off the internet today and I want to especially thank you for this little bit of info! I e-mailed Bend-Pak and they referred me to another distributor and rather than it costing us $3000 it ended up only costing $2451, for a savings of $549 over the Northern Hydraulics cost! That's a significant amount of change!

Sweet! That looks to be the same model that we got with the rotated columns so that you can open the doors fully. Did you get the wide, or narrow one, and how do you like it?

Oh, I want a lift so bad. It's just not in the budget right now.

I am just going to get one of those pit lifts like the quick lube places use. I don't have enuf overhead room for a full lift.

Thank you.

I got the wide one.........and it almost bit me in tha butt today. We did brakes on a buddy's Hyundai (everyone is your friend when you have a lift...LOL!!) and the lifting pads barely got to the sub-frame.

Don't imagine there are many cars that are narrower than that though????

Absolutely love it.....a month before we got it we had to do the slave cylinder on the Ranger (inside the bell housing, had to pull the trans) what a PITA to do on the garage floor!!!

Did that T100 clutch with the lift and a trans jack.........what a difference the correct tools make!!!

Did rear brakes on the Lightning....just a total back saving machine!!!

One thing is for sure - when I get a place, the garage *will* have enough room for a lift. I'm tired of laying on my back to do everything.
