Idles great, won't rev
Hi guys. I just bought a rough 1964 F-250 with the 292. While I am no stranger to the y-block, I am also not a mechanic. The problem I am having is that the truck fires right up and idles well; a little rough, but decent. When I try to give it any gas (choke on or off, no difference) It coughs through the carb and stalls. I just got everything I need to convert to late model wide dist cap and the pertronix points replacement; basic tune up stuff. Anything else I should be looking at?

Got it
Well I completed the dist cap conversion, corrected the firing order, changed the plugs and wires, and updated to the Pertronix unit. It turns out that aside from the firing order being wrong, the neg coil wire to the points was loose. After changing the plugs I did look into the carb, and the choke was stuck closed.
Now the problem is going to be figuring out what carb is on this truck.
It is not stock as it's got an automatic heat-spring style choke on it (not electric). It looks like a FoMoCo (Holley) 2 bbl, but it doesn't have any tags or stamps on it. But, that's another problem.
Anyway, the truck runs great with just a little tune up and unsticking the choke!
thanks
Andrew
**edit** No power brakes, those look to be all stock manual drums, and the plugs were rich fouled.
