Well your going to have to convert the motor over to a carb setup because the Explorer engines are fuel injected so you might run into a problem there.
I've been thinking about that also. I may just take my engine with 79000 original miles and do some work to it. It doesn't smoke or knock but it is weak.
all you have to do to "convert" the efi engine to a carb engine is stick on a carb intake manifold, carb, and the distributor out of your '84. I Would get a nice aluminum intake tho.
