Hi if you experts guys can help me, I have the opportunity of upgrade my exhaust system in my 92 superduty with 7.3 the question is 3'' or 4'' and why pro and con about each size thanks a lot to help me solve my dilemma thanks again
I think you'll find that the consensus around here will be go with the 4" if you can. These motors don't gain any torque benefits from backpressure like gassers do. The more open and free-flowing the exhaust the better, especially with a turbo.
The only "pro" for 3" - which is also the only "con" for the 4" that I know of - is cost. The pipe and labor to fit the 4" will cost more than doing the same system in 3"
Anybody think of any other drawbacks to the 4" compared to the 3" - or benefits of the 3" over the 4"?
Depends on a turbo or not as to whether 4" is necessary. If you have a turbo, get a system for a powerstroke 4", and a down pipe for an IDI and that will get you a 4" system. On a natural aspirated, 4" isn't as necessary.
