Good news/Bad news

The Ford Fusion/ Mercury Milan are the quality leaders over both Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Consumer reports tests as reported on CNN.com. Overall the Japanese are still the quality leaders though.

Having Mazda develop FWD passenger car platforms seems to be working. Now, if Ford will just bring the US Focus up-to-date with the Mazda3/European Focus platform, they would have another winner.

Focus will get new design in 2008, but platform or engines are not new at all.

I think it's one heck of an accomplishment to beat the flagship models of both Toyota and Honda. Those are both great cars. This should be plastered all over the news media. My future son-in-laws parents just bought a Milan and it's a nice ride! Ford is doing a lot right.

If you go to the report and actually read it, you will find that the Fusion beat the V6 Accord and V6 Camry but still came in 4th (Family Cars). The Honda Accord Hybrid, Toyota Prius and Honda Accord 4 cylinder all were rated ahead of the Fusion and Milan. In the Upscale/large car segment, the Zephyr came in second to Lexus. The FOMOCO triplets were the only mentions of Ford in the top ten. The Ford was not listed in any of the least reliable spots like GM, Chrysler and European vehicles .

It depends on the area of reporting, if you look at the trucks, it has F250 diesel in the unreliable spots. The Baja and Toyotas took the top spots. LOL It is still consumer reports.

Lots off people pay attention to what consumer reports says. A very positive thing.

That list is crap it's based on Consumer Reports granted they gave some American cars good things but they ranked most American cars bad. Go to JD power it's almost completely the opposite from CR. They don't have the Vette as bad actually it's one of those cars that have the happiest owner ship.

i don't care what anyone says, everyone of those mags are influenced by something, whether advertisment or consumers themselves, just imagine the amount of business CR would lose if they would start always ranking american cars on top, the japanese car buyers would just go find another magazine to buy that would promote the cars they like.

Cr is on the money concerning the Vette but not in the way you think. 2 major problems have plagued the car. The first was the crankshaft bolt. This affect about the first 5000 05 models and when it let go caused major damage. The second problem concerns almost all the 2005-2006 vettes and the tops delaminating. It took GM awhile to find a good solution to the problem and there is a recall to fix the problem by replacing the whole top.

In any case mine has 18K miles of happy motoring. I can't say that I have ever owned a car that puts a smile on my face everyday. The following is just one reason why.
