Diesel Dumb?
I ran my '90 model 7.3L P/S hot and cracked a head. Although it only had 120k miles on it, the place I took it to be repaired suggested a complete overhaul. It took forever for them to finish and when they did it has less oil pressure, power, and just doesn't feel right. I strongly suspect they just put a used motor in it instead of building my motor. Is there any way to tell? Does the block have a matching vin?

look at your seals. if the motor is freshly rebuilt, all seals and gaskets will be visably new. in addition, look at the motors paint. look at the hard to reach areas. if someone was lazy and didn't do a good paintjob, there might be old paint visable.
I had the same issue in my Bronco. The shop thought I was stupid enough to not realize they had swapped an old motor into it instead of the new one I provided. Needless to say, they got their butts handed to them

i know late 90's to new motors all have vin #'s on them, ecspecially a $6000 diesel. contact your ford house and they will tell you if your year had them and the locations, and yes they do match the truck.
