Brake controller?

I just got an 04 F150 Lariat 4x4 with tow package, I was wondering if its prewired for a brake controller like my 01 F250 was. Thanks

If it has the tow package it should be. There should be a bag somewhere with the relay and harness pigtail. Or it may be installed already. Look under the dash on the left side and you should see the connector.

Easiest way to find out is to look at the back of the truck and see if you have the round 7 pin plug on the hitch.

If you do, it's pre-wired for a controller. If not, and all you have is the 4 pin flat plug, the answer is no.

My 04 with a tow packaged was prewired. The plug was a gray connector near where the steering column came through the firewall. The pigtale to wire to the controller and the circuit breaker for the trailer lights were located in the pocket in the driver's door. It could be anywhere or missing on a used vehicle. I installed A Prodigy ($99)controller and bought the wiring connector($9.95) for the F150. I installed the controller to the little metal tab on the bottom of the dash next to the emergency brake release (drill 2 holes). The complete installation took about 15 minutes. It took me longer to find my drill and bit than to do the rest. The breaker installs in the fuse box that is located under the kick pad on the passenger side of the cab.
