Per one of the Ford guys there at SEMA the tip is built that way as it draws in cold air during the burn process and it does this to keep the exiting exhaust cooler. They first run of trucks burnt the paint off the quarter panel without this tip design so he said.

ebolavirs is starting off with a positive reputation.
It will be quiet and nice when you buy it but then ford will issue a series of mandatory flashes that will decrease power and increase noise.....get used to it thats fords way.

I don't think they would pull that again........but who knows besides they never admited that even though the TSB said differn't.
