1960 f100 budget lowering
Hey everyone, I need help deciding on how to lower the ride height of my 1960 ford f100? I am trying to do this on a low budget. Is it better to use the volare front susp. or maybe a nova front clip, or a camaro. or is there any other way of doing this. thanks Kccort36

Really hard to do on a budget. So many things are affected when you change the frontend. When you decide on the front end, it will have a different wheel lug pattern. So new wheels are in order. Then your pattern doesn't match the rear. So a new rear or re-drilled axles are in order. The new frontend will probably have disc brakes. So a new master cylinder/power booster should be installed. Then the steering box won't work. A new column will have to be found or the old one adapted with u-joints that are at least $60.00 apiece. Then the frontend you installed probably needs rebuilt on top of everything else.

ok guys out with the budget lowering. I have decided to go with a volare front end. I have a choice between a 1980 volare and a 19888 dodge diplomat, both have the right distance and everything. both have v-8's in them which would be the best one to use. i thank you all for the input so far.

Some Volare clips have both torsion bar adjusting screws on the bottom, some have one up one down. The one with both on the bottom is easier to adjust and requires less notching of the frame. Make sure you grab the column out uf the donor you'll want it for parts at least. I used the master/booster from an 84 Fairmont it required only minor mods to install. I'm told mid 80s mustang pedal assemblies and master/booster will fit nicely too. It's a big job but the more you are willing to do the less it will cost. When I did mine I had lots more time, and patients, than money. I got alot of the parts for free or next to it, but I do have some connections. Good luck, keep us posted and when it comes time for detailed info just ask, we're here for that purpose. Rich.
