Bed parts and wheels
Do the 48-50 8 foot bed have the same size stake hole pockets and the 6 1/2?
Would it be safe to have the 17in split rims be welded to be a 1 piece rim?
I realy want to keep the original rims but don't want to have split rims. What are you supposed to do if you have 5 of them and several with good tires?

The 8 foot box has a pocket in the center of the side while the shorter box doesn't. I think the end pockets are the same or at least made to fit.

Hi Nathan,
I have a '49 F-3 and I'm facing a similar need for stake pockets, too. I think you'll find that the F-1 stake pockets are about 3/8 of an inch narrower than the F-2 and F-3 pockets. I was thinking of buying repro F-1 stake pockets, cutting them in two and welding them back together to come up with the proper width. As far as 17 inch wheels go, I changed mine to 16 inch F-2 wheels years ago to avoid the problems you're having now. You may be able to find 17 inch one piece rims with no centers at a tire and wheel wholesaler and have a machine shop adapt your centers to fit them.Just a thought.

The front stake pockets of the front of the box are good just the rear where a 3/8 plate bumper was welded to it. Will the F-2 rims fit a M-3(F-3) hupcap? Why wouldn't you be able to get the tire off? The one piece rims allow you to take tires off. The F-1, F-2, F-3 have the same tire bead according to my shopmanual. I was sorta playing around with the idea of getting the outside ring made and having the centers welded in. Do you guys know any vehicles with 17in rims? I was wondering if I got some at a wreaker and had the inside welded in.
