An interesting assortment of 1/4 ET times
For some cars new and old. It's kinda neat to see just how a newer family sedan can be almost as fast as many "Muscle" cars of old

Those results don't surprise me. Engines have improved dramatically since 1970, heck even from 1990 they've improved in efficiency, power output, economy, the works. The transmissions have improved, the tires and suspensions have improved. All of that goes towards improving the 1/4 miles times.
Also, power to weight ratios have improved, the 1969 Mustang was probably twice the weight of a Honda.

One of the problems with the FE big blocks running the 1/4 mile in stock trim was torque, a lot of it and it was causing traction problems. When motor trend tested these cars, it was totally stock, even the tires. I had a 68 mustang gt fastback, 428 cj, 4-speed and 32 gears. It would spin through 4th gear. If I could of got that car to hook up with a set of slicks and traction bars, I'm sure it would of run in the high 12's. But on the stock tires, it was low 14's spinning all the way.
