on my 06, the dealer replaced all emblems before I took delivery. Mentioned faulty paint or something and they were replacing all HD emblems prior to delivery. This was last November. The only way I found this out was when I noticed on my 350, one of the emblems was a 250! They then explained the story..

...I hate to say it - Ford should have known that this is what eventually happens when you put paint/decals on a smooth polished chrome surface. For this reason, it will probably happen again if you have them replaced...
I would like to replace mine with the '04 style(the black background with chrome lettering) but its like $90 for all three and I even asked if they could just replace them with those instead of the OE ones. They said no.

I did that to my 02
I bought the replacement Chrome badges and had a trusted autobody shop replace them for me
I def prefer them over the dull black ones
