Yep another supposed increased performance and airflow system, but with the same old increased dirt flow to go along with it.

Here is a link to a previous thread
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/53...-problems.html

Read the article in post #6.

Basically if you increase airflow, you decrease filtering ability, so more dirt in enging leads to dusted turbo and engine components.

The factory Donaldson system is one of the best on the market.
Unless you are doing heavy modding (more than just and tuner and exhaust) an air filter change is going to give you no increase in performance, no matter what all the slick marketing materials say.

Hope this helps

Another cotton gauze turbo duster. The stocker is great for everything but extreme race applications and will protect your 40K investment. PLEASE spend your money on a more useful mod....like a good tuner or exhaust.

LOL--on edit--GMTA Blackhat--simultaneous post.

npccpartsman,

Yep and gauges. Just amazes me all who install tuners etc first and gauges last. IMHO gauges should be the first upgrade.

You're right--gauges first. I was amazed what my engine was doing when I finally had them installed. I don't thnk I'd have run that dang predator nearly as long if I had and maybe I wouldn't be doing headgaskets again (this weekend).

Very custom tuned SCT--lol--and actually I haven't helped him install a set of headgaskets yet, although I've helped him install a couple of motors and do just about everything else on the top end. After the 6.0 the SBC seems like tinkertoys........and runs like tinkertoys.

Actually he did a set in 19? hours. and that's pulling the motor out the front end....not lifting the cab. We're gonna see if we can beat that this weekend!

I think the flatrate time is 35 hours, so 19 ain't too shabby. Not too sure it's something I really wanna improve on in the future. I much prefer track/dyno time, but lesson learned. You're welcome to come help Blackhat. I'm sure we'd be glad to teach you the finer points of 6.0 etiquite.

If i was a little closer i would take you up on that offer. But i do my share of traveling the country so when i get down in that neck of the woods I'm going look you up.

And i gotta agree track time is much preferred to rebuild time.

Yes that would definitely be an enormous effort. I am amazed by the fact that you guys accomplished this in 19 hours and 16 will be pretty awsome.

Good luck with the change out, my money is on you guys to get this done in 16.

WELL.....not as young as I used to be, but we can give it a go for sure. I don't know if I'll make 16 hours after work.......maybe we can do the relay thing. I definitely won't be sleeping on the creeper like Brandon was.
