Almost made it, but not quite :(

about a month ago I said that I purchased the big F4/5 00, which I still don't know because I cannot find the vin number. So I fixed the waterpump, bled the brakes and off from El-cajon to Clairemont (in San diego). It is a 20 mile drive from the previous owner (who was cool enough to let me do repairs at her place). Whole bunch of gasoline and we were off for the first time together. My friend followed us in his Toyota tacoma and having e-light because nothing works on my truck. Just me and the engine and whole lot of air in the cabin (no windshield). We made it past the mission trails pass (900 ft above sea level) and then it was supposed to be down hill but then 5 miles later (6 miles from home) the engine died/siesed. So I am not a happy camper, but I got it towed home fro the 120 alltogether.

So how difficult is it to mate a 56 transmission to the ford 460?

It don't think it would be possible and it might not last behind the 460 too well. Just get a 4spd from a 73-79 truck with a 460.
