F-150 w/diesel for 2008or 09?

I hope im not opening up a new can of worms but this is new to me and I have to try to confirm this. I ran into an International salesman today while my truck was being worked on. He says that there will be a V-6 diesel being introduced into the 150's soon. He said it will be the same engine as the new 6.4L that is coming out minus 2 cylinders. And me being an idiot i forgot to ask if it will also be twin turbo'd. This sounds good to me. Has anyone else heard of this or did i just fall off the turnip truck?

That program died a couple years ago. It was all over this site and the media. Ford paid International about $70 million to cancel it.

It isn't going to happen, ever. At least not with an International diesel...

Just finished talking to the second largest Ford Truck dealer in Ontario, and he said 2008 model year, F150 with a 4.7l diesel available in regular and supercab, long box only. The wife may have a new farm truck.

They should have done this years ago. The F150 and Bronco with diesels would have been awesome.

If they do build this they should definately stay at the top in sales. I know alot of people that would love the extra power but do not need a 3/4 ton truck. I imagine the mileage should be alot better than the current offerings also. Great idea!

Why would they go to a 4.7 engine when they just started putting out the 4.5 with twin turbo in some other trucks.. At a hefty 5.8 Billion dollar lost as of the 3rd. quarter don't think they want to start another totally new engine, also from what I have read the 4.5 is doing a fine job so far, only time will tell.

What I wanna know is how much the diesel option will cost over the regular price of the truck. Will it be $4000 or more like on the super duties? That's the thing that sucks the most about buying a diesel, is the cost. Turns a $25,000 truck into a $30,000 truck.

I may actually check out some F-150 diesels when they come out, just to see what they're like. Doubt I'll be able to afford one though.

My thoughts exactly. I can't imagine that a diesel engine costs THAT much more to produce, even if it's made in smaller quantities. Perhaps if they make it an affordable upgrade, the truck really will sell.

The most common rumour I can find states that the F150 will eventually end up with a 4.4L version of the Land Rover 3.6L turbo diesel. I have no idea how good these rumours are.
I do know that the 3.6L motor is a twin-turbo, enlarged version of their (Ford/Puegot) V6 and it makes 266HP and 472 lb-ft of torque. I would be more than happy with those numbers and hope they won't make the engine bigger just to put bigger numbers in the sales brochures.
Again, these are just the rumours I can find. As far as I can tell, Ford isn't saying anything yet.
By the way, the 2.7L V6 has been used since 2004, so it isn't exactly a brand new motor anymore.
