how can this be?
hey guys, help me out here. i have a 96 bronco 351W. i've had it for about 6 years now and i'm just now getting around to learning about gears. first things first. my axle code is 19 so open diff right? well, where i work, we park on gravel. when i spin out in the gravel i get 2 equal tracks in the gravel. is this possible with an open diff?

I have a 1994 Bronco with same engine. 8.8 rear end and a dana 44 up front. My rear had a LSD from factory and open front. As far as I know not much changed from 94 to 96. I run 33's with a locker in back and 4.10 gears now and it's great!

Code 19 means you have 3.55 gears, open carrier. Just because it didn't come with it from the factory doesn't mean a previous owner didn't put one in. If you jack up one rear wheel, put the tranny in neutral, can you spin that wheel? If not, it's got some kind of traction aid device in it.

Cuz you are on gravel, the tires have little or no resistance, so both can throw rocks like a pro. Any resistance on one side or the other would eliminate both tires spinning at the same rate. This is why we call em "one wheelers".
