I have a 2004 F-350 6.0L Diesel. I just bought a Diablo Predator from a guy on the internet (at a fairly good price), but from reading on here, I am wondering if I have the wrong one. Everyone talks here about the latest download r10-r13, but that is only good with the newest programmer (U7165). He told me there is no model number listed on the programmer (I haven't received it yet) but said it has part mnumber 990617 on it. Can anyone tell me if this is the latest version or if it is the old programmer?

If it is the old one, is the latest tune for it as good as r10 or did I just waste my money?


Any help is appreciated.

The 990617 is a U7160 and works only on 2003-2004. The 2005+ Powerstroke's computer has twice as much memory as the 2003-2004 so the programmers are not interchangeable.

No legit dealer is on ebay, and any tuner you buy on Ebay is not covered by warranty through Diablo (or any 2nd hand tuner, the warranty applies to the original purchasers only). I hate to say this but you just wasted your money, this tuner will not work at all on your truck. Your only option is to resell it.

 

It won't work at all??? My pick-up is a 2004, and you say this programmer is for 2003 and 2004. Please explain.

Ok, I can understand the warranty deal. So that latest program for this tuner is no good compared to the new U7165? Does the U7160 still have coolant problems.

I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. I thought you had a 2006.

It will work... but it will not have the latest tunes they use on the newer tuner. Diablo hasn't updated it in a long time.

 

Ok, so it will work. However, it won't have a very good tune, as compared to the newest model.

Is there a HUGE difference between the old version and the newest version?

Is anyone still running off the U7160 and experiencing any problems? Everything I see on the forms is related to the new U7165.

I just looked at the Diablo Sport web page, and it shows the latest version (# 45) for the U7160 was posted on 4-13-06.

For the new programmer (U7165), it shows version 10 posted on 1-6-06, and version 13 posted on 3-23-06.

So, the old programmer (U7160) was actually updated later then the U7165. Would it be safte to assume that the U7160, v45 is the same or extremely close to U7165 v13?

Is anyone running v45?

to my knowledge you can buy the power cable and serial cable to interface with your pc to update your handheld, that's also how you can obtain free custom tunes..

 

Free custom tunes for a Predator? I know you can update from the Predator website on line, but it's just their canned tunes. I know that there are some Predator dealers around the country, but I have't heard of anyone using custom tuning for them
