DHRA Nationals in Houston 10/14/06 pics

These were from the DHRA Nationals event in Houston this past weekend. This was the biggest diesel competition event of the year. I couldn't attend, but some folks that did have provided plenty of pics:

Those last two links are all pictures taken by the professional photographer that was there... I think they show it, too.

And here's a fun video of a pull-off between a huge lifted F550 on 52" tires (this truck ran a 16.2 btw in the 1/4) and Brian Bunting's "Blackwidow" pulling truck, which is an F550 dually (w/ a few mods ). Danny Elmo is driving the blackwidow in this video:

Here's another fun video of Danny Elmo in his orange truck on 37s vs a dodge:

From what I hear, Danny Elmo's truck performed real well in the drags and pulling. The DI race truck, "Snow White," had a problem on the track and couldn't finish the drags. Don't know of any official results yet. Anyway, enjoy the pics. Most of the top diesels in the US were at this event.

Talking Cool . . .

Looks like a fairly lite turn out. Not much local hyp for the event. Had little or no notice on the West side of town. Drag strip is 75 miles from this side of town.

Well the pics are nice anyway . . .

The pics may look that way, but all the fellas who attended and the guys who posted these pics all made it a point to mention that the fans were much more than the pictures show. They said they were often standing elsewhere or alongside the stands and stuff. They also said it was about three times the turnout as last year.

But yeah the pics definitely make it look not as crowded as claimed.
