I'm wiring up a remote start system. All is fine with the remote start but the door locks don't work. The company claims that the system is a negative pulse but it doesn't work.
Note: if it is a negative pulse system then all I have to do is hook up two wires, that is what I did.
I used the two wires in the passenger kick panel that would control all door locks. when I cycle the power door locks I get a 12v from both during their direction.
Also, I have not hooked up the OEM disarm, but it should not be needed since I don't have the factory alarm.
from what I recall when I had my actuators apart I switched voltage to get them to run the opposite direction, not sure if the vehicle switches positive or neg. Check the voltage where you tapped into the wires when you actuate the locks with the switch, that should tell you what voltage you need to supply and where.
As far as I know there are different type locks on the trucks- A,b, & c. When I was working on mine, I used my dmm to find the 2 wires. When I pressed lock, it shows +12v and when I hit unlock it showed -12v. That means the switch reversed the ground to run the actuator- same concept i found with the power mirrors. Get a dmm and do some testing.
