Torque Spec For Front Caliper Mounting Bolts

Changing the front brake pads tomorrow. I can't seem to find the torque specs for those two bolts you remove from the caliper so it can be lifted off of the rotor.

I'm going to have to cut the rotors, I see some pitting.

Thanks
Jim

Brakes

The 02 shop manual says 42 FT/LB for the caliper bolts, 166 FT/LB for the caliper brackets, and 155 FT/LB for the lug nuts. You have to take the caliper brackets off in order to remove the rotors. Don't be surprised if your rotors are siezed onto the hubs--It's very common, and you might have to beat the rotors to break them loose. You may have to beat them so hard that they will not be able to be resurfaced, so be ready to buy 2 new ones just in case. The sliding caliper pins also sieze in the brackets. If they are siezed, you may have to get new brackets--sometimes, you just cannot get them loose--sometimes heat from a torch will help. If they do come out, coat them with silicone or synthetic brake grease to avoid siezing.

When you reassemble everything, coat the hub and big hole in the rotor with anti-sieze grease to keep them from siezing up--makes it easier the next time. Let us know how everything went.

Good luck,

RON
