Here is my problem. Parked my 1950 Ford 2dr, Flathead V8, 3 Spd tranny about 3 months ago in garage. Was working fine when parked.
Went to move it and when you depress the clutch pedal it does not release the clutch at all?? You cannot put car into gear, it grinds if you try. Checked under car as wifey pushed on clutch pedal, all seems to be free, clutch fork moving as it should. Could the clutch be froze-up from sitting?? Could some rust have formed causing it to lock up?? Can't find any axcess holes to check.
Ever hear of this happening??How can I free it up?? Any other ideas on what might be doing this??

I had that happen on a car once. The clutch plate froze to the flywheel. I had to pull the trans and replace everthing. If you can see inside the flywheel like around the clutch arm you might try havind someone step on the pedal and use a lond screw driver to pry the friction plate away from the flywheel. I would still plan on replacing the set soon even if that worked.
I used to have a 47 mercury with the 239 flattie and 3 sp. This happened to me once also. The clutch disc froze ar rusted to the flywheel and pressure plate after sitting for an extended time ( about a year). I got mine to unstick by starting it in gear and driving around the yard a little bit. I guess the older clutches were metallic instead of all fiber. Not sure though.
THANKS for the responses. Started car in gear and took for a very short ride. After about 100 feet, heard this bong noise and the clutch is now working fine. Kept pumping the clutch pedal while moving and it did the trick. Amazing how these old clutches can freeze up in such a short time.
